The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
Dunrobin Castle

Dunrobin Castle is the largest house in the Highlands (189 rooms) and is one of Britain's oldest continuously inhabited homes, dating in part from the early 1300s. The garden design was inspired by Versailles and have changed little since they were planted.

Photography is officially prohibited in most of these estates, I more to encourage the sale of photograph books of the place than concern over the deteriorating effect of flash cameras. But being typical rebellious Americans, we managed a few surreptitious shots to give you an idea of what it looked like inside ... at least the half of the house that was open to tours. That only leaves about 90 rooms for the lone male resident!
