The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
May 17 - Languedoc to London

I will let the photos of the day, such as they are, tell the story of the day, such as it was. As the trip winds to an end, it seems like an appropriate time to reflect a bit on the last three weeks. On one hand, it seems like we have been here forever ... and at the same time it seems like we just arrived. We saw some amazing sights, ate and drank well and made some new friends. For the most part, the weather even cooperated.

But those are just the icing. The real cake is rekindling the awareness that we are, first and foremost, all in this together. Every time we travel, I pick up a fresh appreciation for other cultures and the wonderful way that the world works. I do not think it is possible to travel and not reach the inescapable conclusion that, for whatever our division of language or political borders, in the end, the people of the world are more alike than different ... and that we need to broaden our outlook on making sure we protect and preserve this planet we all share. As a sage of our times, Rodney King, once said, "Why can't we all just get along?"
