View from Assisi Earthquake damage in Assisi

Assisi is one of the numerous hill towns of central Italy but has the distinction of being the home of St. Francis of Assisi (who is now a local industry!) The town was damaged by an earthquake several years ago and repairs are still being conducted. The shot on the right is of one of the castles above town.

Hotel in Assisi Temple of Minerva, Assisi

Assisi has a great feel to it. The shot on the left is of one of the many similar hotels tucked into corners around the city. On the right was the Temple to Minerva when Assisi was a Roman city. After the fall of Rome, it was reconsecrated as a Christian church, which kept it from being destroyed. Even in this small shot, you can get a feel for the age of the structure.
