The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
Joyeaux Noel
There's not much open on Christmas day and we've already walked most of the old town. Margene's trying to get over her
bout of the crud and I am in the middle of my battle with the same bug. We have food in the house, internet access and
many good books to read. Bottom line: we never felt like leaving the apartment today, so we didn't. Truth is, we never
even got out of our PJs. Now THAT is a civilized way to travel!
Did we miss something? Almost certainly. But we have learned to travel with the idea that we will be back. Sooner or later
we'll be wrong about that, of course, but in the immediate term, it takes all the pressure off that all-American urge to
go-go-go. What we don't get to see or do this time we'll see and do the next time ... and if we never pass this way again,
at least we had a good time while we were here.
As Gandhi once said, "There's more to life than just increasing its pace."
