The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
Moving Back Day

Today it is back to the leisure life. It's amazing how much more enjoyable travel is when you don't have to pack and unpack every night.

The first stop of the day was the Gauffre de Padirac, an incredible underground cavern that is best described in photos. Margene gets claustrophobic in enclosed areas so took a pass, but she missed an amazing experience!

When we re-emerged into the light, it was lunchtime and a tree-shaded terrace near the car park seemed just the ticket. I was amazed at the quality of the food they offered. To make it perfect, there was a little place across the road that sold one of the basic food groups -- Italian gelato! More proof that there is a God!

Since we were close (10km away), our route back went via the hanging town of Rocamadour. The hanging town idea will make a lot more sense to you after you see the pictures of how this place is hung on the side of a cliff!

All's well that ends well and we finally made it to our new digs in Beynac, overlooking the Dordogne about 5pm. This house is amazing! A little challenging due to steep hills, narrow streets and the like ... but amazing none the less. I'll put in some house shots in a later edition. For now, it's time to relax on the terrace with a glass of wine.
