The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
Discovering the Neighborhood

The weather continued sunny but with a cooling breeze so it was the perfect morning to make the steep climb up the hill to explore the Chateau.

Unfortunately, the only tours are in French but we tagged along with one of them anyway. The tour guide appeared very knowledgeable and certainly passionate about his subject. Even though we understood very little of what was being said, his energy spoke volumes and the English language text for the self-guided tour filled in many of the blanks.

After a pleasant lunch on a shady patio at the base of the castle, we took the long way back down (longer but not as steep as the clumb up here!) and settled into the house for a bit of relaxation. The cooling breeze kept up and was a welcome relief from the midday heat we have lived with most of the trip.

Around 5:30 we took an hour cruise up the river to get a different perspective on things. It was a very relaxing way to spend an hour.

Finally, we had a barbecue dinner on the terrace. This meal had been in the planning stages for days and proved to be just as enjoyable as we all hoped it would be. Our time here is winding down and we are savoring these moments while we have them.
