The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
May 14 - Life in the Big City

Thira is perched on the top of the cliff with a spectacular view into the caldera and the new island slowly being formed by the volcano which is apparently not completely dormant. To get to and from the water, you can either take the cable car, walk down 580 steps or ride up and down those steps on a mule.

There are a lot of signs around here that I don't understand ... but that is because they are in Greek. This one in Thira was in English, but it was sure Greek to me! Finally, the ladies working hard on the terrace!

The sun sets on everything on Santorini, but laundry is not the one that draws the crowds (except for Margene who has an eye for great photos!) Still, there's no question that watching the sun set on Santorini is an industry in itself! When we finally got on the proper side of the island, we understood what the whole sunset hullabaloo was all about.
