The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur Down Under
November 7 - Auckland/Coromandel

Our first full day in New Zealand and we really covered some ground. While I was at Mission Bay meeting with a client about service training for his restaurant tenants, Margene and Adrienne were touring a sculpture garden and lunching. After lunch, Margene and I got out of town, headed for the Coromandel Peninsula about a two-hour drive east of Auckland. It is a favorite retreat for the city dwellers (much as the Dandenongs were for residents of Melbourne) and we had heard good things about it. The drive was a challenge (particularly driving windy roads on the left side) but we made it safely to our destination, found a pleasant B&B and had an unexpectedly superb dinner at a local restaurant before calling it a day. Life is good.
